Michael Black - Sydney Artist at Bausele Exhibition

On Thursday the 31st of March 2022, Bausele Watches opened up its doors after hours to welcome watch lovers and art enthusiasts in its store at The Rocks. We dedicated a special opening night to Michael Black, where Bausele VIP customers, brand friends, and Michael’s supporters came for a few drinks, company, and to take in his beautiful works.

Every month Bausele endeavors to have a different unique artist display their work inside the multi-level heritage-listed building. Bausele loves celebrating local talent and Michael’s expressive and lively artworks are made to be seen. Michael Black is an abstract artist who not only paints on canvases but has also been commissioned to create beautiful murals across Sydney, such as Inner West, Burwood, and The WOTSO building. He graduated in 2018 with BA in Fine Arts at UNSW COFA, where he majored in painting and design.

Through his work, Michael captures direct moments in time through the use of a variety of mixed media techniques. We love the way Michael brings a dynamic and expressive response to the subject with an aim to capture the raw essence and beauty of that moment. We couldn’t think of a better artist who captures the Australian lifestyle, the beauty, and the vibrancy of our land and the people who inhabit it.

“I personally love the movement, color, and life in Michael’s work. It reminds us of the beauty the world around us has to offer, such as being out in nature, the hustle and bustle of the city, things we were missing when we were isolated due to the covid pandemic.” - Natasha B. Sales and Marketing at Bausele

“Seeing Michael’s art is an art in itself, there is so much to absorb and learn. Each art piece tells you a different story and reflects positively on you. All our guests spent a great time talking to him and knowing his perspective on life. I loved how his art even describes himself and how natural yet magnificent it can be.” - Milind, Sales and Marketing at Bausele

I encourage you to show your support to Michael, by purchasing one of his beautiful works for your home or for a friend. Alternatively, get him to paint a building you think needs a splash of color! Visit his website here: https://www.michaelblackart.com/

Prior to Michael Black, it was Northern Beaches Photographer, Tobias Lord who had his works on display and upcoming will be Glenn Duffus, with his captivating collection, “Below Sea Level.” The inspiration behind the collection in his own words; “It has previously been reported that water levels across the world are rising four millimeters each decade. I wanted to document what sort of effects that was having on Sydney Harbour, but I also came to the realization that the bridge was rarely captured from the water below,” says Glenn. Below Sea Level is made up of over 100 different images, all offering a rare water angle of one of Australia’s iconic landmarks.
